If there is one thing that I repeatedly affirm, it is the power of authenticity and vulnerability. Since I began my healing journey, I have never shied away from sharing my story with others with the intent it will resonate and offer hope that they, too, can let go of that which no longer serves them well. The following anecdote was born from my recent weekend in Columbus, Ohio.

Following the conclusion of the Warriors at Ease Level Two training, a group of us gathered for a final meal together before we went our separate ways—one conversation centered around each person talking about their spouse. One of the women in my class (who has an incredible story of healing in her own right) asked me why I love my wife. I shared with the group many things that I love about Judy.

I love her for her sarcasm and sense of humor (many at my own deserved expense). I love her for her ability to see the glass as half-full when I see it as half-empty. During my fire service career, I could not wait to get home from a long shift and see her smiling face. I love how she gives it back to me when I act like an annoying nine-year-old (aka haunt and a pest). However, there is one thing that I love her for the most.

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about holding space for myself in the interest of self-care and healing and adding another dimension to this concept - holding space for each other. I am forever grateful to Judy for allowing me to continue my incredible healing journey (the essence of this post's theme), even if I have to spend a weekend in advanced yoga teacher training to deepen my practice.

On our recent cruise to Alaska, we celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary. Time sure flies when you are having fun. The following song by John Denver speaks to my renewed daily commitment to our life together. If I had the rights to this song (I do not), I would rename it Judy's Song. To my readers - be vulnerable, authentic, and heal. Thank you to my fellow yogi for asking such a thought-provoking question.
